A night of splendour, a night to remember

It’s a beautiful thing when people get together in aid of a good cause. South Africans are generally known to celebrate every good opportunity we are given. At the Endeavor South Africa offices for instance, anytime we win big, we victoriously chime a golden bell in the office. It echoes through the building, alerting our small team of yet another triumph. This has been going on all year, and the years before that.

On 1 November 2017, our office celebrated one of our biggest successes of the year. In SEVEN short weeks, we managed to organise our first ever auction fundraiser. Along with this, we were also able to place in one room, for one night, many of our board members, entrepreneurs, mentors and supporters! What an achievement considering the fact that all these factions lead such busy lives, that getting them all under one roof for more than just a mentor session or advisory board is one of our greatest accomplishments this year.

We held a fundraiser in support of our journey as a non-profit organisation’s desire to forge the current and next generation leaders of tech, health care, education, food and beverage and AI.

Endeavor South Africa first opened its doors in 2004, and has led high-impact entrepreneurs to success by catalysing long-term economic growth by selecting, mentoring, and accelerating the best high-impact entrepreneurs South Africa has to offer. We aim never to drop the standards we have set 13 years ago, and plan to continue the tradition of excellence for decades to come.

Endeavor’s current funding sources are board member contributions, enterprise development donations, and entrepreneur give-back. The proceeds from the auction will go toward furthering our impact in the South African economy. It’s important to reiterate that we don’t just support entrepreneurs – we celebrate them, and we encourage them to continue growing from strength to strength. And our fundraiser was a pit stop on the way to next level of greatness we want to achieve.

On the night we were entertained by South Africa’s most talented dancers and current Latin Pro Champions, Ryan Hammond and Angelique Allison from DanceCorp (www.dancecorp.co.za), a 4-piece jazz-band playing sultry sounds and led by Michael Bester. Ginistic Entertainment (www.ginistic.co.za), contributed to the ambience with their wonderful playlist of tunes. We soothed our appetites with food from Fresh Caterers (www.freshfoods.co.za) and wet our tongues with wines and gin from Spier (www.spier.co.za ) and Inverroche (www.inverroche.co.za) respectively. Toni Glass (www.toniglasscollection.co.za) treated the gathered crowd to a taste of her delicious, organic ice teas and tonics that were paired with the gin, while Starbucks (www.starbucks.co.za) – with thanks to Taste Holdings (www.tasteholdings.co.za), CEO, Carlo Gonzaga, treated the coffee lovers to a coffee experience never to be forgotten. To this team of excellence who made all our guest feel as if they were in heaven, we say a heartfelt thank you!

Knowing that each of the stakeholders in attendance came out to support us, was a most humbling, yet reassuring feeling – they believe in what we are trying to achieve. They believe in the dream and the hard work it takes to achieve the dream.

We witnessed mentors meeting mentors, entrepreneurs discussing partnerships, and board members enjoying the opportunity to meet and greet with some of the brightest and most talented people in the room. The success of this fundraiser has proven that we are capable of anything and that with enough dedication, a dedicated team of stakeholders can make the dream possible.

The e-Effect was evident on the night of 1 November, and it will be evident for many decades to come.

To the entrepreneurs changing South Africa one innovation at a time, for you, we joyously chime the golden bell.

Thank you to every friend of Endeavor South Africa who came out to support us. What a privilege and honour to have you all in our midst for a night of entertainment, fun and good fellowship.
